Defamed on TikTok – What Are Your Rights?
If someone posts a TikTok calling you a fraud, a criminal, or attacking your reputation, that could be defamation. Under UK law, you can take action if:
• The statement is false,
• It refers to you, and
• It causes or is likely to cause serious harm to your reputation (Defamation Act 2013).
Steps you can take:
• Report the post to TikTok under their Community Guidelines.
• Send a formal takedown request / letter before action to the creator.
• If necessary, bring a defamation claim in court — within 1 year of the statement being published
